Some of you have known i’ve tried this in the past, but this time it’s going to be a lot different. first of all, licensing is a bitch if you play copyrighted works, so no more of that. second, i’d like to expose unsigned bands and stuff in addition to talk radio. Now, some of you may be wondering if it’s just going to be me blabbering on, it isn’t, i’ve actually got a few people that are interested and i’ll be getting a soundboard soon to do some mic mixing for multiple people. Ok, so i’m wondering if anyone out there would like to host a radio show, there needs to be at least two people, and when i find out how to have call in people (either through the internet or regular phone lines) they have to be willing to shell out some cash or install some software to allow this (or if it becomes profitable, i’ll actually buy the stuff).
Ok, so anyone interested in getting together with their friends to talk Tech, News, Politics, Philosophy, or any other interesting subject for about an hour block each day or random days or something? Reply here, pm me, or drop me an e-mail.
still working out the details, i’m going to need some bandwidth if anyone is willing to stream from my server, then stream from their computer
All you really need to participate is some software to connect to my server, some headsets with microphones (or one microphone that’s really good at picking up noise), and some y adapters to connect to your computer.
I would say “Call Crystal’s Cel phone” and maybe while She and Cody are in L.A. work out a deal maybe? He does run a Small Buisness and has a Buisness DSL line. But YOu’ll have to talk with him about it.
§ 261.3 Royalty Fees for Public Performances of Sound Recordings and for Ephemeral Recordings.
(a) For the period October 28, 1998, through December 31, 2002, royalty rates and fees for eligible digital transmissions of sound recordings made pursuant to 17 U.S.C. 114(d)(2), and the making of ephemeral recordings pursuant to 17 U.S.C. 112(e) shall be as follows:
(1) Webcaster and Commercial Broadcaster Performance Royalty. For all Internet transmissions, including simultaneous Internet retransmissions of over-the-air AM or FM radio broadcasts, a Webcaster and a Commercial Broadcaster shall pay a section 114(f) performance royalty of 0.07¢ per performance.
(ii) For other Internet transmissions, including up to two side channels of programming consistent with the mission of the station, a Non-CPB, Non-Commercial Broadcaster shall pay a section 114(f) performance royalty of 0.02¢ per performance.
Anyway, you pay it to CARP (the Library of Congress), I believe who pays it to the “copyright holders” (i.e. the RIAA, even if they aren’t the copyright holder)
So yes, you pay the RIAA regardless of which artist it is.
seems you are all getting hung up on the whole cost thing - do it for
free! have you heard of shout cast. check out the shout cast page
[quick google search will get you there] - you need win amp and a couple of free plugins etc - it can be a little complicated but… thousands of people tune in to the stations listed there. if anything, you could see what kind of listeners you pick up - if you get alot - go legit!
good luck!
OR like I had stated once that with esc The UT Mod you could stream AND have traffic and bring more poeple to psx as well. but then again … I’m Teh Loen right?
