Zonealarm

So yeah, I wonder if it works at all, or is it just more spyware.

I heard that’s basically what the Win XP firewall is. Just another Spybot that Microsoft employees enjoy joking about. Though I have noticed that if you don’t have it on, you’ll recieve annoying win popup messages which give me the reassuring idea that the internet knows my IP. -_-

Zonealarm? Yeah, it works great, I wouldn’t have my PC connected to the internet for very long without it enabled. It also lets you have complete controll over what programs have access to the internet, so if any spyware wants to spy on you, you can just deny it access to the internet. One problem though is that sometimes when you play a 3d game that goes full screen and it wants to acess the internet for whatever reason, if you don’t have it already set up, you might have to reboot the computer. Some 3d games won’t let you switch back to the desktop to set zonealarm to let the program have access, and untill you either grant it access or deny it access, it can’t go any further at all. Other than that, it’s great.

I tried the new verison once and had a bunch of problems such as conflicting default popup blocking programs and for some reason, when it was enabled, it wouldn’t animate the animated gfs on IE. Any clues?

I dunno, but I have a firewall built into my Cisco 678 DSL modem… I hate it so much cuz it never turns off. :stuck_out_tongue:
But I know it protects me well, just quite the annoyance.

Yeah, go to the Zone Alarm controll center, then privacy, then in the ad blocking section hit custom. Uncheck Animation in the “ads to block” section.

Shankya kindly o botty one.
