Also, there should be a quick reply activation button in the quick reply box itself (if you don’t just outright disable activation and leave it so that all clicking the quickreply button in the article is set up a variable that says “if quoting message, use this message”). It’s rather self-defeating to have a quick reply box that requires you to have to look up, find the quick reply activate button, and then look back down to quick reply.
it’s the way it works pipian, how else can you have threaded discussions if you don’t reply to something?
BTW, The Battle Command Style should be complete, in a somewhat comparable form to what it was previously.
Might there not be some way to make it default to the last post as the thing the quick reply is replying to?
not without a big giant hack.
It’s my personal opinion that threaded discussions are less useful than they appear. Take, for instance, your typical thread like “What are you listening to now?” or “The Thread that will never die.”
Those threads have no need for a threaded discussion, and would likely appear as a long row of either completely in one level, or more likely, in an almost endless tree of reply after reply after reply. In either case, a threaded discussion is useless, though perhaps moreso in the latter than the former.
Now I will admit that there will be nice points where you will want to reply in the right fashion, however, most of the time, I wager threaded discussion will either remain unused, or will be rather useless and annoying if used (note how this post is already below the threshold for displaying further branches of the tree, and how there is no extra replies under each thread.)
In this case, the DEFAULT reply would put you on the first post for a reply (which is a bit more logical for threads such as those). Instead of the last post (as Vaska suggests). I don’t think it should take more than a SQL statement of
SELECT firstpostid FROM table_threads WHERE tid=int
If the table’s designed properly that is.
I guess it might well be big giant hacking time, then. Or just leave it, but in its current form it seems to serve little purpose.
ok, well there was an option for it, i wonder what not clicking anything gets you…
While on the topic of hacking and administrating, when will you get rid of those annoying never-used smilies? Especially the jaw dropping one which takes up so much space? And that useless one that just scrolls through all of the icons (what the hell is the purpose of it?).
This Should Be On The Bottom Level.
they’re all for leon.
Yay. It is. Incidentally, switching thread styles should put you on the page you were on (if switching between Hybrid and linear) and switching to threaded should put you on… What? The first post I guess.
The latter half holds true. The former half will be annoying if you switch between them on a thread thirty pages long.
Also sort of on the topic of administration, any chance you could turn off relative time display?
figures that he gets an unfair annoyance advantage over everyone else. Write him a random generating smilie [ IMG ] code script and be done with it!
what’s wrong with it? i like it!
Hey, nice improvements, but why does clicking a thread not take you to the most recent post? Also, something seems a bit off about Battle Command, but it may just be my Imagi-nation.
I would assume this would be in your User CP somewhere. However, this does not seem to be the case.
Should be optional. When will you people learn that EVERYTHING should be optional?
Yeah, like pants.
It just seems odd. Absolute timing provides more nutrients for me to eat.
Informational nutrients.
