hehe, we’re just saying. I don’t think your isp should block ports, they should just limit your upload speed. So you can run something if you want without hindering their systems too much.
My upload speed is already limited. Serving websites isn’t really that upload speed intensive as long as you have a small audience. If they were going to block ports for hindering their bandwidth, you’d think they’d block ports for filesharing programs instead.

It hasn’t been working for a while.
So my ISP has blocked port 8080 now. Instead of just changing the port every other week, I’ve decided to move my wedsite to a new host. Still working on restoring the database, but I’m hoping it’ll all be taken care of in a day or two.
thanks for the offer Rav, but I got a host already and I’m almost done moving the site over. I’m having trouble restoring the database for the forums, but that shouldn’t take too long to fix (I hope).

still having trouble with restoring the forum database. apparently the new host has some sort of open_basedir restriction in effect. not sure if I can just say, “hey, take the restriction off, ok?” or if I’m going to have to get a new host. Rav, I may still take you up on your offer if you can give me database access for my forums.

Ok, it’s back up now. They must have tripped over the power cord for the ethernet switcvh and forgot to plug it back in or something. Vaska, I have sent you a PM (in these forums) a new password for my forums. Log in with that password and change it to whatever you want.
