So peep this:
I’m student teaching right now, and generally speaking, it is the hardest, most annoyingly frustrating thing I’ve ever done. Thus, the sweet release of summer will be…let’s just say, amazing.
Problem is, I need a soundtrack to A) bring summer into being, and B) keep me moving and shaking throughout summer entire (and all of my various vacations and wanderings about).
I’ve done summer themed CD’s before, and they’re all well and good, but they don’t come nearly close enough to describing the extreme joy of being out of student teaching hell, and back into the substitute teaching/getting smashed on a Wednesday night for no reason pleasures of my prior life.
Here’s what I have so far on this untitled album:
Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now
Sons of the Pioneers – Way Out There
Cake – Mahna Mahna
Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer
Boney M. – Ra Ra Rasputin
*Instant Remedy – Last Ninja
The only commonality between these songs is that none of them annoy me, and they all make me really happy, or are hilarious in some strange way. The asterisk by Last Ninja is because it’s not a final decision. It’s good, but is it Summer of Aaron good?
I’m also going to be adding either Ek Dana or Hum Tere Hi Deewane Hain by Dahler Mendhi, because he’s my number one Punjabi hero.
So, since my tastes are universal, you need to suggest songs that make you elated to hear them, make you laugh uproariously (think Final Countdown by Europe), and are almost impossible to hate (Hey Ya, or Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson are good examples).
Only stipulations: they have to be somewhat accessible. I subscribe to Rhapsody, so my library is sizable, but if its horribly obscure, I may need some help.
Now: songs that make you happy! GO!
