Lieberman Just Lost

Hooray for The Trot!

What’s wrong with that kind of sign? The Left complains all the time about how violence is soooooo much worse than naked ladies and we card for porn. I see an easy conclusion to be drawn from that argument.

I never said there was anything wrong with it.

This just in: Lieberman just lost.

Indeed: the LEft usually loses. Proof: Lieberman.

The only Left represented by Lieberman is the sensible kind… which, since Bill Clinton left office, somehow doesn’t exist.

Are you implying the right is sensible right now, what with all the terrorist this and Patriot Act that?

The “left” here must be the left in left-handed, half-witted inconsistency. If Lieberman is the left, call me Mr. Right. In fact, call me that anyway, because it sounds pretty cool. Also, I’ll convert instantly to radical Islam if you say so, where so = “Lieberman represents Judaism.” If you’d prefer to assert that Lieberman represents English speakers, I can probably bumble my way through enough French and German to get by in places where those languages are spoken. Hell, tell me Lieberman represents not killing children; I’m flexible, but sadly so are the spines of the young, so I might have my work cut out for me.

Can you feel the hate? I hate.

all candidates are center, or at least try to be because they’re too chicken to stand up for whatever they really believe in.

Kerry: Furry rights
Lieberman: Mandatory brisks
Dean: That to be the man, you gotta beat the man, WOOOOO!
Clark: Clarkonomics
Edwards: Banning of smoking and pants
Sharpton: Islamic regime enforcement
Kucinich: Moving to Canada

THE TRUTH REVEALED

THIS MAN HAS MY VOTE.

GAAAAH SO HARD TO CHOOSE

Nonsense. Most people are more or less in the center. Political extremism is the stuff of college campuses and op/ed pages. There is no reason to believe that any of the candidates now running (with the exception of maybe Wes Clark) are really saying all that many things that they don’t really believe.

Umm… let’s see. A recovering economy; a democratizing Middle East; negotiations with Syria, Libya, and North Korea. Where are we going with this? The simple fact is that, contrary to the claims of most of the Democratic candidates, armageddon is nowhere in sight. On top of that, the Patriot Act received unanimous support. Say what you will about sensibility, but it’s hardly obvious that the Patriot Act is the result of anything diabolical.

I’ll agree with you inasmuch as there are some pretty shrill crazies on the Right, but Ann Coulter doesn’t hold public office.

This is how elections are lost. You, sir, had better keep your fingers crossed for Edwards or things are going to get ugly.

No, elections are lost when the media says the name of the democratic candidate followed by the word: “MONDALE.”

See also: Kerry’s got a shot.

Why does everyone think Kerry has a chance to win? His voting record makes him something like the seventh-most liberal member of the Senate. No, I think Kerry is just another Dukakis/Kennedy/Jeffords upper-crust New England liberal. Wait until he has to compete against someone competent (read: Karl Rove, who will shred Kerry like nobody’s business).

You guys need to pay more attention to demographics. You’ll notice that the last Democratic president not from the South was JFK, who was more conservative than a whole lot of Republicans are today. Kerry is just Mondale waiting to happen.

I’m calling rich creamery butter once more.

When Kerry gets out there, and starts talking up his military experience vs. Bush’s…uh, whatever that was…NASCAR dads are going to eat it up.

Karl Rove’ll convince the conservatives that he’s Mr. crazy liberal Joe (I can see the commercial now…Kerry standing side by side with Ted Kennedy. GASP!), but those independents…they like bright and shiny things, like Purple Hearts.

And the debates vs. Bush…Kerry could very well pants Bush if he plays his cards right.

I’m not saying it’ll be a landslide, nor am I guaranteeing victory, but Kerry is a nice fat bicoastal democrat, who’ll get strong union support, and a strong independent showing.

This is almost all false.

When Kerry starts talking about his military experience, Republicans are going to start talking about how he came back from Vietnam and instantly starting issuing slanderous comments about everyone he served with. No one will like that, not even NASCAR dads.

Karl Rove’ll convince the conservatives that he’s Mr. crazy liberal Joe (I can see the commercial now…Kerry standing side by side with Ted Kennedy. GASP!)

Umm… actually, his voting record will do that. He actually IS incredibly liberal.

but those independents…they like bright and shiny things, like Purple Hearts.

Actually, independents like moderate candidates, and Dubya is by far the more moderate of the two.

And the debates vs. Bush…Kerry could very well pants Bush if he plays his cards right.

Unless Bush actually comes equipped with facts, which would cause some interesting devastation to anything Kerry might say.

I’m not saying it’ll be a landslide, nor am I guaranteeing victory, but Kerry is a nice fat bicoastal democrat, who’ll get strong union support, and a strong independent showing.

Unions? Do you remember what happened to Gephardt when he relied on unions? That’s right, he lost. Unions aren’t as valuable as they used to be. If the last 50 years of presidential elections have revealed anything, it’s that the South is the key. Kerry simply can’t win the Bible Belt, which makes it highly unlikely that he can win the election. The fact that he’s a liberal in sheep’s clothing doesn’t help much either.
