Eighties’ TV show The A-Team is being remade for the big screen.

The series, which featured the action-packed adventures of “Hannibal” Smith, “BA” Baracus, “Faceman” Peck and “Howling Mad” Murdock, will be placed in a contemporary setting.

Muscleman Mr T (Lawrence Tero), who starred in the original with George Peppard, could be bought back for the new film, although not as BA – whose initials stood for Bad Attitude.

The original featured four Vietnam vets on the run after escaping from a US military prison.

Unjustly framed for robbing the Bank of Hanoi, the team go about helping the innocent while evading the clutches of the law themselves.

James Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein is writing the movie version of the popular US series, which ran from 1983 to 1987, according to the Hollywood industry bible Variety.

Stephen J Cannell, who created the original show, is co-producing the new movie for Fox.

He said: “Mr T and I had lunch last week, and I’d really like to have him in the movie, although we haven’t begun casting.

“I always think it’s nice to see the stars of the old show in cameo roles in the movie.

“But obviously he won’t be playing BA Baracus.”

The new movie will be more serious and “less cartoony” than the light-hearted TV series, in the vein of action movies Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.

Mr Cannell said: “Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died.

“We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We’re not going to do that (in the movie).

“In this the tone is more dangerous … you can really die. It’s very tense and exciting.”

Vietnam could be replaced by the Gulf, although no details have been announced.

The A-Team was recently voted the favourite show of yesteryear, which viewers want to see return to TV, over the likes of Knight Rider and Monkey.

George Peppard, who in the part of “Hannibal” was leader of The A-Team, died in Los Angeles in 1994.

tl;dr:

Good News:
An A-Team movie
Featuring Lawrence “Mr T” Tero

Bad News:
All new actors playing the staring roles
Less “Cartoony”, “Light-hearted” and “More serious”
It just won’t be the same, at all. :frowning:

what the fuck

why can’t you make original movies hollywood! everything has to be a remake of something else or a sequel/prequel to some movie made a long time ago.

I think I’ll go see it purely to see the original Mr T playing a cameo role.

Here is how this movie will go:

Mr. T: Here I am in a cameo role, foo!
Fake BA: Hey, you can’t say that! That’s my word!
Mr. T: Wrong again, sucka!
Fake BA: is thrown through the movie screen, lands in front row with hilarious spilling of concessions That Mr. T is hella strong!

Holely molely if they did that with 3d glasses it would be one of the best movies ever.

I’m already cringing at the thought of them replacing B.A’s van with something more modern though.

BA’s van was already outdated at the time. Making it more modern does nothing! Ahahahahaha!

Whoo-hoo.

I’ve known of the A-Team movie for a while. The guy who wrote Under Siege 2 wrote a script, and it was rejected. BOOO!

And people did die in the A-Team, just not very often, and the team never killed anyone.

I’m voting for Dragon to be Murdock, Me to me BA, Chembot to be Face and KBV to be Hannibal… Because we’re the only people to have posted in this thread.

Sweet! Which one is Face?

can i be the van?

I want to be the Mexican guy that was in the fourth season.

Also: this movie will be terrible. I bet it won’t even have a montage.

Chambot: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Shop/1317/ateam/face-portrait.jpg is Face, he was Starbuck in Battle Star Galactica.

Psx-Dude: Yes you can be the van, but then we all have to ride you.

Trot: It’s Frankie, and he was in the 5th season; so there!

I say we should film our own movie and release it before the offical one. That was if it’s bad, it’ll be bad in a good way.

Is that a joke at my expense?

No it’s a typo. Chammie.
